"Yeah..." she answered, motioning to her right, where the impaled and bloodied body of one of the passengers was slumped over exactly in the spot where she would have been had Jean-Luc not been holding on to her. "We need to see if anyone needs help."
Thanks Data! After over two months of hard labor, I finally gave birth to my bouncing baby fic! Feels good! (NOTE: My cold seems to have evolved into some nasty allergy/flu hybrid, but I noticed a few editing mistakes I made with my attachments. I have re-edited them and posted them again, but I hope for the most part that it didn't too much harm to the basic story.)
crusheronpicard--cute, having a dog and a four year old turn up would definitely be a showstopper and probably every parent's worst nightmare when they're engaging in marital relations.
angelgirl--excellent story, interesting plot and very well-written.
The original premise was that Starfleet personnel of both genders voluntarily took birth control during missions where an unplanned pregnancy might be problematic (i.e., the non-family ships of TOS.) Since neither Beverly nor Jack was on a mission early in their marriage, you can see where they might have gotten a little lax on the issue - but then again, an accidental pregnancy for someone who is as careful and practical as Beverly is definitely out of character. Given that modern birth control is rather effective, and that things should only get better in the future, accidents should be quite the exception (fan fic and profic stories to the contrary aside.) I prefer to think that they both agreed that having a child wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, and decided to 'let nature take its course'. (Maybe she just gave Keiko the shorthand version rather than detailing her history with Jack.) But that's just me.
There's a few good stories out there about what he dreamed - my favorite being a saucy dream - but Beverly wasn't the subject. (And that was why she walked out from their dinner.) It went a long way to explaining the ending of the show.
And while most people have multiple dreams every night, it's rare that they remember them: I wonder if Beverly was teasing him, and he played along because he had no idea what he had dreamed?
